I've got a bulldog
“I first heard this tune played by the old time string band 'Bigfoot'. I have been playing it for years now and always enjoy its energy. This tune strongly resonates with me as I had a dog for 13 years, her name was Rosie and she passed away at the end of 2021. Now when I play this tune I spend the whole time thinking of her and the majestic nature of dogs.
Flora and I recorded this song in cross E tuning. Before we hit Sun Studio in Memphis we had traveled up to Mouth of Wilson, Virginia so I could pick up a fiddle handmade by the great luthier Jackson Cunningham. Along the way we stopped in Floyd Virginia and we met a fiddle player who was playing tunes in cross E. We were inspired by this new found tuning and the energy it gave a tune. Flora suggested we try and kick our version of 'Bulldog' up cross E and this is how it turned out.” - Kat
